The Toyota Celica is the name of a series of coupes made by the Japanese company Toyota. The name, 'Celia' is derived from the Latin word coelica (selika) meaning "heavenly" or "celestial". Celia was first introduced in the Japanese market in 1970 and was used a more affordable alternative to replace 2000 GT. The Toyota Celia was produced in seven generation during which different parts were modified and used different styles.
A four-wheel drive turbocharged model was produced from 1986 to 2000 and used the name s A20. In 1986 the drive layout was changed from rear wheel drive to front wheel drive. Celia used different trims and was sold in different parts of the World. In 1976, Celica won the Motor Trend Import Car of the Year award. In 2005 Celia was stopped in parts of North America and Australia it was still used in Japan. It was 2007 that Toyota ended the production of the 7th generation Celica in Japan.
