The Legacy is a mid-size car that was manufactured and marketed by the Japanese manufactures, Subaru. The Subaru Legacy was introduced in February 1989 and is a successful model that is sold in different parts of the World for more than two decades. The Legacy was introduced as a twin model for the Subaru Leone/Loyale. In Australia, the Legacy used the name of Liberty and in other parts it was called the B4, Legacy B4 and Legacy Touring Wagon. The Subaru Legacy was available in different body styles that include the four door 'B' pillar hardtop, Four door Sedan and five door Station Wagon
The Subaru Legacy has been sold in different parts of the World successfully and the sales number as of November 2008 is 3.6 million. The Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Mitsubishi Galant, Mazda 6, and the Nissan Altima are the major competitors of Subaru Legacy in North America. The Subaru Legacy was built in parts of Ôta, Gunma Japan and also in Lafayette, Indiana USA. The Subaru Legacy has been produced for four generations and the new Legacy for the 2010 model year will be from the fifth generation. In 1990, the Legacy was declared the number one selling 4-wheel drive car in the USA by R.L. Polk & Company.
