The Porsche Cayman is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive sports car produced by Porsche AG of Germany. Porsche Cayman shares the mid-engined platform with Boxster. Porsche Cayman was launched a two-seater sports car for the 2006 model year. The Cayman is a coupe that used Porsche's second generation Boxster convertible as its base. Caymans are mostly assembled in Finland for Porsche by Valmet Automotive.
Boxster and Porsche Cayman used the same parts like the same front fenders, trunk lid, side doors, headlights, tailights and forward portion of the interior. The Cayman has a large hatchback for access to luggage areas on top and in back of the engine cover. The Porsche Cayman used the 3.4 litre flat-6 boxer engine (M97.21) and also used the 2.7 litre M97.20 for the base model. Cayman used a 5-speed manual transaxle as standard on the normal Cayman (G87.01).
