The Jeep Commander (XK) is a mid-sized SUV introduced in 2006. The Jeep Commander is a 7 passenger counterpart of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep Commander was first introduced at the 2005 New York Auto Show. Jeep Commander used the Wrangler for inspiration and was built on the WK Grand Cherokee platform. As a result of the poor fuel economy it is stated that the Jeep Commander will be discontinued in many parts by 2009.
The main features that make the Jeep Commander different are the boxy styling, upright windshield and squared off sides. The Jeep Commander also used three moonroofs called "Command View". The roof used in the Commander is stepped for the second and third row seats. The Commander used the base V6 engine with two optional V8 engine. The new Jeep commander comes with the opitional entertainment package which includes a dvd player and tv and rear parking camera.
