The Honda Civic CR-X is a front-wheel-drive sports compact car manufactured by Honda. The Honda Civic CR-X was originally launched as the Honda Ballade Sports CR-X in Japan. In many parts the name "CR-X" is used as an acronym for "Civic Renaissance model X". In parts of America, the Civic CR-X was sold as an economy sport hatchback. The first generation CR-X was sold in some parts outside Japan as the Honda Civic CR-X.
The Honda Civic CR-X has space for two passengers. In parts of European, the Honda Civic CR-X used a more powerful ZC 130 hp (97 kW) engine and had a seating capacity of 2+2. In 1987 the Civic CR-X was re-designed and has been in production till 1991. The main features that made the Civic CR-X popular were its performance, nimble handling, and good fuel economy. Honda plans to introduce the upgraded CR-Z car for the 2010 model year.
