The Honda Accord is manufactured by Honda and is a series of midrange cars sold in most automotive markets throughout the world since 1976. In 1982, the Accord was the first Japanese car produced in the US. Honda offered different body styles and versions of the Accord, and often vehicles marketed under the Accord nameplate were different in different regions. The 1976, the first model introduced was a Compact hatchback. The hatchback was stopped in 1980 and the Sedan, Coupe and the Wagon versions of the car was introduced. The coupe is a mid-size car however; the 2008 model size was increased and the Accord can be called as the lower limit of a full-size car rather than a mid-sized car. The Accord is the first Japanese car with features like cloth seats, a tachometer, intermittent wipers, and an AM/FM radio as standard equipment. All Accords sold in North America came with the 2.2 litre electronic fuel injected engine standard, replacing the previous 2.0 litre 12-valve model from the past generation. The Honda Accord is one of the most successful models in the United States and many tests have proved that Accord is the most reliable car. 1982 to 1997 - The best selling Japanese car 1991, 2001 - Ten million vehicles sold.

In 1976, the first generation Honda Accord was launched. This model was a three-door hatchback with 68 hp (51 kW), a 93.7-inch (2,380.0 mm) wheelbase, and a weight of about 2,000 pounds. The first generation car was larger than the tiny Civic at 162 inches (4,115 mm) long. In 1981, the second generation Accord was introduced. This model used the same 75 hp (56 kW), 1,751 cc (106.9 cu in) EK1 CVCC engine and was mechanically very similar to the original. Fuel economy was increased by 15% and quality control was vastly improved. Electro Gyrocator, the world's first automatic in-car navigation system was optional. Models were available in Silver, Sky Blue, and Beige colour. The LX hatchback offered a digital clock and slightly higher fuel economy and is considered the World's most reliable car. 2008 - The new Accord car comes in both sedan and wagon forms, offering various engine and transmission options. The engine options available are the 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre i-VTEC petrol engines, as well as the 2.2-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. All engines come with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the petrol engines get in addition to that a 5-speed automatic transmission. The Accord has become longer, wider, and portrays a sporty look, along with sharper body lines and slightly redesigned headlights. In Canada, sedan trims include the LX, EX, EX-L, EX V6, and EX-L V6, while coupes have the EX, EX-L, EX-L V6, and EX-L V6 6MT. The U.S. Accord is also manufactured in Thailand and sold in Southeast Asia and Australia. The Japanese-built Accord is sold on the Australian market as the Accord Euro. It is also produced in Guangzhou, China since the 1999.
