Ford Ranger is a Compact pickup truck that was manufactured and marketed by the Ford Motor Company. The name, 'Ford' was used on two distinct ranges of compact pickup truck lines by the Ford Motor Company. The Ford Ranger was introduced in parts of North America in 1983 and is a successful model that is still in production. The parts of the Ford Ranger were assembled at Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States; Edison, New Jersey, United States and in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. The Ford Ranger is also called the Mazda B Series.
The Ford Ranger was used to replace the Ford Courier and used the front-engine layout. The Ford Ranger was available as a rear wheel drive or an optional four wheel drive model. The name, "Ranger" was first used as a premium styling package for the Ford F Series full sized pickup trucks in 1965.
