The Ford Excursion is a full size Sport utility vehicle (SUV), produced by the Ford Motor Company. The Ford Excursion was introduced by Ford for the 2000 model year and was produced till the 2005 model year. The Ford Excursion was considered Ford's largest SUV and used the Super Duty pickup truck platform. The Ford Excursion was a major competitor for the Chevrolet Suburban.The Sierra Club awarded the Ford Excursion an "Exxon Valdez".
The Ford Excursion initially used the .0 Litre power-stroke engine and in 2003, the engine was replaced by the 7.3 Litre power-stroke diesel engine. The upgraded engine produced 0 to 60 mph times within 10 seconds and also reduced noise levels. In 2005, the Ford Excursion received a minor facelift where few parts were modified and used advanced technology. The production of the Ford Excursion ended in September 2005. The Ford Expedition El was used to replace the Ford Excursion in 2007.
