The Ford Escort is a small family car manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. The Escort was introduced by Ford in 1967 in England and was produced till 2003. The Ford Escort made its show debut at Brussels Motor Show in January 1968 and was produced at the Ford plant in Genk. Ford Escort was initially a European model however; the name is also used in North America for the various versions of Ford Escort. Initially the Ford Anglia 100E was called the Ford Escort in the 1950s and was introduced as a separate model in 1967.
The Ford Escort that was produced for the continental parts was initially different from the Escort built for the UK market. The front suspension parts and steering gear that was used was differently configured and the brakes were fitted with divided hydraulic circuits. In June 1974, less than six years after the introduction of the Ford Escort in UK, Ford announced the sale of the two millionth Ford Escort cars. This is a great milestone that was unmatched by any Ford model outside the USA. The Ford Escort was modified to suit the market requirement.
