Produced by the German automaker, Audi the A6 is an executive car available in Saloon and Estate styles. The A6 or C6 as it was known was designed by Walter de'Silva and released in 2005. This model used sophisticated technology and was an upgrade of the C5 model. One of the main change in this model is the MMI (Multi Media Interface) which is a system controlling in car entertainment, satellite navigation, climate control, car settings such as suspension configuration and optional electronic accessories through a central screen interface. The buttons on the dashboard were also modified. The second and third generation A6 became the platform for the Audi allroad quattro and A6 allroad quattro models respectively. The Audi 100 C4 was modified and called the A6, to fit in with Audi's new alphanumeric nomenclature in 1994. A6 was first introduced in the UK as there was a shortage in the stock of Audi 100. The new FSI direct injection technology was introduced for the first time outside the race track. The Multitronic automatic transmission was available as an option along with the 6 speed Tiptronic gearbox. Quattro is not available on the multitronic variants of the A6 however; it is available on the manual and Tiptronic gear systems. Awards 2000, 2001 - The second generation A6 was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list. 2005 - The updated A6 won the World Car of the Year award.

The A6 came with different engine options, most oused Audi's Torsen based quattro permanent four wheel drive system and two turbodiesel engines were also available.
