The Toyota MR2 is a sports car that was manufactured and marketed by Toyota Motor Company. The Toyota MR2 was introduced in 1984 and was produced for more than two decades till 2007. The parts of the Toyota MR2 were assembled at the plant in Sagamihara, Japan. The Toyota MR2 was manufactured in three generation and was available with many advanced optional features. The three generation of the Toyota MR2 are referred to as the MKI from 1984 to 1989, MKII from 1990 to 1999 and the third generation referred to as the MKIII from 2000 to 2007.
The Toyota MR2 used the MR layout; mid-engine models with rear wheel drive. The Toyota MR2 is available in the two door coupe and the two door convertible body styles. The third generation of the Toyota MR2 also used the name of Toyota MR-S and Toyota MR2 Spyder. The Toyota MR2 was powered by the Toyota S engine that include the 1.8 Litre 140 PS (103 kW) I4 engine and was supported by different types of transmissions that include the five speed manual transmission, six speed manual transmission in parts of Europe and the six speed Sequential Manual transmission in parts of the united States.
