The Subaru of America, Inc (SOA) or the Subaru as we know it is the U.S. Sales and Marketing subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) of Japan. In other words, FHI is the Japanese parent company and Subaru is the American brand name for it. Subaru was founded in 1968 whereas FHI has been around since 1917. The famous brand name and the brand image of Subaru are synonymous with anything that relates to rally cars, sports cars and (all-terrain vehicles) or ATVs. Presently Subaru has many models in the market that cater to every class ranging from the 5-door hatchbacks to the sleek and sporty sedans and the muscular SUVs. Subaru has a unique image in the automobile world mainly because of its two ground-breaking innovations, i.e. the Boxer engine and the Symmetrical (All-Wheel-Drive) AWD technology. Subaru is a pioneer of the mentioned formats, and sports car and rally car enthusiasts all over the world hold Subaru in high esteem for this reason. The exploits of the Subaru Impreza WRX in the (World Rally Championships) WRC has only enhanced Subaru's reputation in the automobile market. IMPREZA Evolved from the Subaru Loyale, Impreza is presently available as a sporty all-wheel-drive (5-door) hatchback as well as a sports coupe. Powered by the world famous Boxer engine, Impreza is presently available in 2.5 liter models named Impreza Premium, Impreza Outback and Impreza GT. IMPREZA WRX
The new and improved Impreza WRX is the turbocharged version of the Subaru Impreza. Impreza WRX is available as a Sedan, a Wagon as well as a sports hatchback. Impreza WRX is powered by a 2.5 liter inter-cooled turbocharged Boxer engine that is famous for being used in the World Rally Championships. Presently, the Impreza WRX is available in three 2.5 liter variants namely; The Impreza WRX, Impreza WRX Premium and Impreza WRX STI. LEGACY
The Legacy has been termed as Subaru's flagship model. This landmark design of the Legacy has a worldwide appeal and has inspired almost all of the Subaru models in one way or the other. Introduced in 1999, Legacy has been one of the highest selling Subaru models across the globe. The fifth-generation Legacy i.e. the current Legacy hosts two engine variants namely; the 2.5 liter flat-4 engine and the 3.6 liter flat-6 engine. Legacy is also available in GT, Premium and Limited models. OUTBACK
Subaru Outback is a crossover Wagon cum SUV based on the Subaru Legacy format. It has the same engine variants as that of the Legacy but has some added features like cargo capacity, (Continuously Variable Transmission) CVT and (Vehicle Dynamics Control) VDC. The Outback is also available in the Outback Sport and the Outback Premium models. FORESTER
The Subaru Forester is a crossover compact SUV manufactured by Subaru since 1997. The tall and chunky design of the Forester houses a 2.5 liter DOHC four-cylinder Boxer engine along with all the off-road capabilities including the all-wheel-drive or AWD feature making it a prominent SUV in most markets. The present day or the fifth generation Forester is available in Limited and Premium models. TRIBECA
Tribeca is an attractive mid-size crossover SUV based on the Subaru Legacy platform that has won many accolades for its award-winning design and high-end technical specifications. Along with all the SUV features, it packs a very capable 3.6 liter DOHC Boxer engine. The Tribeca is available in three models namely; Tribeca Limited, Tribeca Premium and Tribeca Touring. BAJA
The Subaru Baja (pronounced as Ba-Ha) was in production from 2002-2006 as a four-door sedan as well as a light utility pickup truck. The two variants led the way for an improved version that we now call the Subaru Outback. Baja used a 2.5 liter DOHC engine that was refined and used in the Outback as flat-4 Boxer engine. The perfect unibody design of Baja allowed it to be used as a sedan as well as a pickup truck with the latter version successfully conceptualized into a rally truck or truggy (truck+buggy). LOYALE / LEONE
The Loyale or the Leone was a compact coupe which later on was developed into a sedan and much later in a wagon. It was in production from 1971 till 1994 with engine options of 1.6 liter and 1.8 liter capacity. The 1.8 liter Leone was also used in World Rally Championships. The Leone or the Loyale design was later on replaced by the Subaru Legacy. JUSTY
The Subaru Justy is a compact hatchback that has been in production since 1984 worldwide under different manufacturer marques. In USA, the Justy was discontinued in 1994 whereas it is still in production in other countries of the world. The Justy was powered in USA by a 1.2 liter Subaru EF 3-cylinder engine. In other parts of the world, the Justy is also known as the Subaru Tutto, Suzuki Cultus, Suzuki Ignis, Toyota Passo and Daihatsu Boon. PASS SVX
Subaru SVX was a mid-sized GT coupe that was in production from 1991 to 1997. It was Subaru's first attempt to enter the luxury/performance-car market. The Subaru SVX was known for its unconventional window-within-a-window design or the glass to glass canopy that was inspired from aircraft designs. SVX was an upgrade of the existing 2-door Subaru XT model and was powered by a 3.3 liter EG33 flat-6 engine. XT
Subaru XT was a 2-door sports coupe that was in production from 1985 to 1991 before it was replaced by the improved Subaru SVX. XT was available in four-wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive options. XT was powered by a 1.8 liter H4 engine which later on was replaced by a 2.7 liter H6 engine in the XT6 model. XT was famous for its wedge shaped aerodynamic body and aircraft-styled cockpit.
