The Oldsmobile Aurora is a full-size sedan made by the Oldsmobile division of General Motors. The Oldsmobile Aurora shares the platform with the Cadillac-derived G platform. The Aurora was launched in 1995 by Oldsmobile and became their flagship in 1996. The Aurora can be considered as the result of Oldsmobile's aim to introduce a car that would not be termed, "not your father's Oldsmobile".
The Aurora came with a four speed automatic transmission as standard. The Aurora did not have the Oldsmobile badging or script except for the cassette deck and engine cover. The stylized 'A' was introduced as the emblem. Aurora was very successful and famous that many thought the name of Oldsmobile would be re-named to “Aurora”. The main luxury features of the Oldsmobile Aurora were the dual-zone climate control, leather seating surfaces, burl walnut interior accents, power adjustable front seats with 2-position memory and an onboard computer displaying the date, current gas consumption, and other information.
