The Mazda MPV is Multi purpose Vehicle, (MPV) that can be classified as a Minivan. The Mazda MPV was manufactured and marketed by Mazda. The Mazda MPV was introduced in 1989 and is a successful model that is still produced for more than two decades. The Mazda MPV has been manufactured in three generations and more than one million cars have been sold. The Mazda MPV was replaced by the Mazda5 in parts of North America and Europe and was replaced by the Mazda CX-9 in Australia. The parts of the Mazda MPV were assembled at the plant in Hiroshima, Japan.
The Mazda MPV used the FR/F layout; front engine with rear wheel drive and optional four-wheel drive. The front wheel drive version was introduced in 2000 and was sold in different parts. The Mazda MPV used the Mazda LV platform and in parts of Japan the Mazda MPV was also called the Efini MPV. The cars that were produced from 1989 to 1998 are a part of the first generation and the second generation was from 2000 to 2006. The cars that were manufactured after 2006 are a part of the third generation and was also called the Mazda8. The Mazda MPV used different types of engines that include the 2.6 Litre G6 I4 engine, 2.5 Litre G5 I4 engine and the 3.0 Litre JE V6 engine.
