The third generation of the Lincoln Navigator used the Ford T1 platform while the earlier generations of the Lincoln Navigator used the Ford U platform. The third generation of the Lincoln Navigator used the 5.4 Litre Triton SOHC V8 engine and was supported by the six speed automatic transmission. The Lincoln Navigator was re-designed in 2007 and used advanced features; the updated model was called the Lincoln Navigator L.
