The Dodge Diplomat is a mid-size car that is similar to the Chrysler LeBaron. The Dodge Diplomat was manufactured by the Chrysler Corporation's Dodge brand and was introduced in 1977. The Dodge Diploma was produced for twelve years till 1989 and was sold successfully in different parts. Dodge used different names for Diplomat based on the part where it was sold; in Mexico Diplomat was called the Dodge Dart, and in Colombia as the Dodge Coronet.
The Diplomat was available in the Coupe and the Station wagon variants. Initially Diplomat was the name of a body style and in 1977 it was introduced as a full model line. The Diplomat was used by Dodge to replace the Monaco. The Diplomat was based on the Dodge Aspen, designated the M-body. The Diplomat used the base 225 cu in (3.7 L) six-cylinder engine. 1989 was the last year of production of the Dodge Diplomat.
