The Dodge Caravan is a minivan introduced by Chrysler in November 1983, for the 1984 model year. In 1987, the Dodge Grand Caravan was introduced. The Dodge Caravan used the Chrysler S platform. Chrysler minivans like the Caravan and manufactured and sold in most parts of the World. More then 12 million Chrysler minivans have been sold and is rated the 13th bestselling automotive nameplate worldwide. The Caravan was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1985
The first generation of the Dodge Caravan was from 1984 to 1990. The first generation was available in four trim levels; base, mainstream SE and upscale LE. . All the trim levels were available in a slightly longer body, called the Grand Caravan. Most of the interior parts, controls, and instrumentation were used from the K-car, to produce a "car-like" interior look and feel. The second generation of the Caravan was from 1991 to 1995 and used the Chrysler AS platform. The third generation ended in 200o and the fourth in 2007. The fifth generation Caravans are currently used and started in 2008.
