The Cadillac Cimarron is a compact car built by Cadillac. Cadillac introduced Cimarron in 1981 for the 1982 model year and used the GM J platform. Cadillac Cimarron was sold till 1988 in many parts of the World. The Cimarron was not a successful model and even resulted in tarnishing Cadillac's fame. Cimarron was the first small car introduced by Cadillac.
The Cimarron used the V8-6-4 engine. According to Car and Driver, current Cadillac product director John Howell has a picture of the Cimarron on his wall captioned. Cadillac introduced the Cimarron to compete with the luxury cars from Mercedes-Benz. Cimarron is the smallest and also the least-distinguished Cadillac model produced. The basic body/frame structure used a uni-body with a front subframe that carried parts like the lower front suspension, engine, and transmission.
