Produced by German automaker Audi, the Audi Allroad quattro and Audi A6 Allroad quattro are mid size estate/station wagon executive cars. The main differences between the A6 and the Allroad Quattro are an advanced air suspension system, larger wheels with all terrain tires and flared and unpainted bumpers, giving it a distinct appearance and great flexibility The first generation Allroad shares its platform with the second generation "C5" Audi A6. This model was first produced in 1999. The second generation of Allroad was introduced in the spring of 2005 and released it in the summer of 2006 called the Audi A6 allroad Quattro with adaptive air suspension. The car features a number of off road styling cues including larger bumpers and sills. The A6 Allroad quattro is available in Europe however from December 2008 this model is not available in North America. All Allroad models were permanent four wheel drives. The great successes of the Subaru Outback lead to the introduction of Allroad Quattro on a larger platform and with a larger, more powerful engine. The A6 allroad quattro is more expensive than the larger Audi Q7 in some European market. In Germany, the cost of the A6 was few hundred euros less than the Q7.
The design of the Allroad enabled the car to tackle rough road conditions with adjustable air suspension system that could lift the car high enough to provide 208 mm of ground clearance and a low range mode. The allroad with the great design and technology used was able to compete in the Land Rover test course, the only car based SUV that has been able to take part in the test.
