The Dodge Lancer is a passenger car that was produced and marketed by the Dodge part of Chrysler Corporation. The name, 'Lancer' was used by Dodge for three different models and was available in different trims. The first version of the Dodge Lancer was introduced in 1955 and was available as two and four door pillarless hardtop models. In 1961 and 1962, the name, 'Lancer' was used by Dodge for the higher-priced, upmarket models from Dodge. The Dodge Lancer was available in the two door sedan, four door sedan, two door coupe, and four door wagon versions. The Dodge Lancer was similar to the Valiant. The Dodge Lancer 770 Sports-coupe that was introduced in 1961 was called, performance appearance package. In 1962 the Lancer sport-coupe was re-named as the GT. The main features of the Dodge Lancer are the deck lid, vinyl dash pad, the headlamp bezels and the grille's horizontal slats were blacked-out. The base engine that was used was the 170 in (2.8 Litre) unit, rated at 101 hp.
