The C/K is the name for Chevrolet part of GMC's full size pickup truck line. The C/K 30 series was introduced in 1960 and was produced till 1998. The first model of the C/K series was introduced in 1924 and the in house design appeared in 1930. The name C/K denotes the drive train of the vehicle, 'C' is used to denote the Conventional two wheel drive models and 'K' is used to denote the four-wheel drive models. C/K 30 Series is one of the most successful base models in the C/K series.
The C/K 30 series was badged as Apache 30 where 30 denoted the engine capacity. In 1960, C/K trucks were available in smooth Fleetside or fendered Stepside versions that were called as Wideside and Fenderside by GMC. The standard drivetrain used the 3 speed manual transmission and one of two engines the 250 in straight 6 or the 283 cu in (4.6 L) V8. The 4 speed manual, the Powerglide and the Turbo-Hydromatic were used as optional in many parts.
