The name, C/K used for the Chevrolet part of GMC's full size pickup truck line. The C/K series was introduced in 1924 initially and was produced till 1998. The first model of the C/K series was introduced in 1924 and the in house design appeared in 1930. The name C/K denotes the drive train of the vehicle, 'C' is used to denote the two wheel drive models and 'K' is used to denote the four-wheel drive models. C/K 20 is one of the base models in the C/K series the badging appears as 'Apache 20' where the number denotes ½, ¾ or 1 ton engine.
In 1959 the new body style of light pick up truck was introduced for the 1960 model year. The C/K 20 series used many advanced features and many parts were modified. The main change in this model include: a drop centre ladder frame, allowing the cab to sit lower and the independent front suspension parts, giving an almost car like ride in a truck. The C/K 20 series is one of the most successful base truck models introduced by the Chevrolet part of the GMC group.
