The high-end models of the Cadillac line were called Fleetwood, the name was used from 1927. The separate model or the Fleetwood version was introduced in 1946, called the 'Series 60 Special Cadillac'. Initially the Cadillac Fleetwood used the 472 cubic inch (7.7 Litre) engine and then the 500 cubic inch (8.2 Litre) engine. Cadillac used the D body for the Deville and Fleetwood with a wheelbase stretching to a lengthy 130 inches. The different variations of the Cadillac Fleet wood are the Fleetwood Limousine that was from the Fleetwood Seventy-Five and the Fleetwood Brougham replaced the Sixty Special, ‘Series 60 Special Fleetwood.’ Initially the Cadillac was a rear-wheel drive model and in 1985, all Fleetwood models (except the Fleetwood Brougham) moved to the front wheel drive C-body part.
