The DeVille also called De Ville or de Ville is Cadillac's largest sedan after the Fleetwood was dropped. The Cadillac DeVille is a successful and famous luxury car model from Cadillac. In 2006, the name DeVille was replaced by DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan). The name, DeVille is a French term that means of the city or town. The name is also derived from the town car body, which featured an open chauffeur's compartment and enclosed passenger compartment. The initial DeVille models were pillar-less body styles and the pillared sedans were available only in 1965 model year. In 1965, the DeVille became an independent trim line including a convertible and pillared sedan for the first time. The first DeVille was a Coupe that was introduced in 1949 and the 4 door version was introduced in many parts in 1956. The DeVille is a successful model that was sold in many parts and is considered to be between the Calais and the Fleetwood. The Cadillac DeVille has been produced for ten generation with modification done every year.
