The Cadillac CTS is a mid size luxury car made by Cadillac brand a part of General Motors. The Cadillac CTS was used to replace the Cadillac Catera and was introduced in 2003. The Cadillac CTS was designed by Wayne Cherry, the CTS used edgy styling that was called Art and Science style by Cadillac. The CTS was a successful model that helped Cadillac to regain the reputation and was accepted by the younger buyers in different parts of the World. The Cadillac CTS used styling cues from the Cadillac Sixteen concept car, and went on sale in late August, 2007. The CTS used the new rear-wheel drive GM Sigma platform and is the first Cadillac with a manual transmission since the 1988 Cimarron. The name, ‘CTS’ is the initials of Catera Touring Sedan. The CTS is built at GM's Lansing Grand River plant in parts of Lansing, Michigan. In 2002, the CTS was nominated for the North American Car of the Year award. The CTS used either the 5-speed 5L40-E automatic transmission or 5-speed Getrag 260 manual transmission. The CTS-V was used as an upgrade of the normal CTS.
