The Land Rover Freelander is a compact SUV that was introduced in 1997 by the British company Land Rover a part of Tata Motors. Land Rover used the code name as CB40 for Freelander. The three door model of the Freelander was available in S, SE, Sport and Sport Premium trim and the five-door model was available in the following trims E, S, SE, HSE, Sport and Sport Premium trim. The Freelander was a successful model and was Europe's best selling four wheel drive model till 2002. The last year of production of the Freelander was 2005.
The Land Rover Freelander was available as estate model, softback (semi-convertible), hardback, and commercial (van-like) versions. In 2004, the interior and the exterior of the car was modified and advanced technology and modified parts were used. Freelander used different types of engines like the1.8-litre I4 Rover K-Series petrol engine, 2.0-litre I4 Rover L-series diesel engine, 2.0-litre I4 BMW TD4 diesel engine and 2.5-litre V6 Rover KV6 Engine. MG Rover K18 and KV6 engines were not available after the death of the MG Rover. Land Rover discontinued the model after 2006 in the U.S. and parts of Canada.
