The Volvo 760 is the result of Volvo moving to the luxury car production, the model was designed by Jan Wilsguard. The Volvo 760 was introduced for the 1983 model year. This model was criticized by many. The Volvo 760 was a successful yet short lived model whose, production ended in 1990 after 17 years of its introduction. 1984 - Volvo 760 was available as the Turbocharged, station wagon and inter-cooled variants.
1985 - Electronic Traction Control system was introduced.
1988 – The Volvo 760 was changed and modified. The most noticeable changes include the front sheetmetal, including an aluminium hood, recessed windscreen wipers, and new aerodynamic headlights. The Volvo 760s were equipped with a new electronic climate control (ECC), a revised dashboard, three-position tilt steering, and a new stereo system. Underneath, sedans received the same multi-link independent rear suspension that was used on the 780.
1990 - The final year of the production of the Volvo 760 sedans received tail lights in the style of the Volvo 780, and minor interior changes.
