The Toyota Camry is a mid-size car, compact car manufactured by Toyota. The Toyota Camry was introduced in 1980. The name Camry comes from a phonetic transcription of the Japanese word 'kanmuri', which means crown is used as the name of this successful car, 'Camry'. The Camry cars manufactured from 1982 to 1986 are a part of the first generation and were called V10. The design was box shaped and was a compact Sedan. In North America, the Camry used the 68 kilowatt SAE (92 hp) 2.0 litre 2S-ELC engine, 1.8 litre 1C-TLC or a 55 kilowatt (74 hp) 2.0 litre 2C-TLC turbo-diesel engine. The cars manufactured from 1986 to 1990 were part of the second generation, V20. Third generation V30 of Camry started in 1990 and lasted till 1994. V40 is the name used for the fourth generation and was from 1994 to 1998. Fifth generation or XV20 was from 1996 to 2001. The Camry cars till 2006 were part of the sixth generation and used the name as XV30. The current generation is the seventh and used the name XV40.
