The Saturn Ion is a compact car and was also the longest compact car that was sold in North America. The Ion was produced and marketed by the Saturn part of American automaker General Motors. The Ion was introduced by Saturn in 2003 and was produced for four years till the 2007 model years. The Saturn Ion used the GM Delta platform. The Ion was used by Saturn to replace the Saturn S-Series in 2003. The Saturn Ion was replaced by the new Saturn Astra in 2008. The Saturn Ion was not available after the 2008 model year and the production ended on March 27, 2007.

The 2003 Saturn Ion used the 140 hp (104 kW) DOHC Ecotec I4 engine as standard. The Saturn Ion was available in sedan and coupe body-style the coupe is called a quad coupe due to the two smaller rear-opening suicide doors behind the front doors. The Saturn Ion used the Getrag F23 five speed manual or Aisin AF23 five speed automatic transmissions. The high-performance Red Line variant of the Ion was introduced by Saturn in 2004. The high power Saturn Ion Red Line used the 205 hp (153 kW) supercharged engine, and the F35 5-speed manual transmission.
