The Pontiac Firebird was built by the Pontiac part of General Motors. The Firebird was introduced in 1967 and is known for the 'Coke bottle' styling. The Firebird was available as a two-door hardtop coupe and also the convertible version was available. The Pontiac Firebird was produced till 2002. Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird used the same F- body platform. Pontiac had initially wished to produce a two-seat sports car of its own design, based on the original Banshee concept car. During the five generations of production the Pontiac Firebird was modified many times and many advanced parts were used.

Pontiac Firebird initially used different typed of V8 engines and 1982 the corporate units were used. The Pontiac Firebird used bumpers that were integrated into the design of the front end and its rear slit taillights were inspired by the Pontiac GTO. The base model Firebird used the OHC inline-6 and a single-barrel carburettor. A Ram Air option providing functional hood scoops, higher flow heads with stronger valve springs, and a different camshaft was also available in the 1968 model Pontiac Firebird. During the thirty five years of production the Pontiac Firebird has seen five years of production.
