The Oldsmobile Calais is a compact car produced by the Oldsmobile part of General Motors from 1985 through 1991. The Oldsmobile Calais was renamed the Cutlass Calais for the 1988 model year. Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais was used to replace the Omega in Oldsmobile's lineup. The Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais used the GM N platform that was shared with the Pontiac Grand Am and the Buick Skylark/Somerset.
In 1990 – 1991 a special Cutlass Calais model was introduced it was called the Quad-442. It used a high-output version of the Quad-4 engine four-cylinder with the 5-speed manual transmission. The Cutlass Calais was also available as an International Series as a 2-door or a 4-door. The main features of this model include the exclusive options for the Calais range including lower front and rear facias, lower rocker extensions, and quad-tipped sport exhaust. Optional parts on the International series included keyless entry and a DELCO CD player. In 1985 Calais was chosen to be the Indianapolis 500 Pace car for the year.
