The Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera is a mid-size car produced by the Oldsmobile part of the General Motors. The Cutlass Ciera was first produced in September, 1981 and on 28th was introduced at the Doraville Assembly in Georgia. The Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera used the front-wheel drive A platform, which was based on the earlier X platform. The Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera was available as a 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan, and the Cutlass Cruiser station wagon body-styles. 814 Cutlass Ciera convertible cars were produced by Hess & Eisenhardt/Car Craft between 1983 and 1986.
The coupe bodyline of the Cutlass Ciera was modified in 1986 and received a new, more rounded roofline that was not used by the other A-body models. The Cutlass Ciera is considered by many as the re-designed version of the Oldsmobile’s famous Cutlass line. In 1996, the name was modified where, he Cutlass name was dropped and the car was simply called the Oldsmobile Ciera.
