Oldsmobile 88 Royale is a upgraded version of the Oldsmobile 88 that was produced by the Oldsmobile part of General Motors. The main difference between the models was in exterior and interior trim. The Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale is a more advanced and luxurious version of the Oldsmobile 88 and used notchback bench seat with armrest or optional 60/40 notchback bench, also available in cloth-and-vinyl or all-vinyl trim. The Oldsmobile 88 Royale used a horizontal sweep speedometer and heater/air conditioning control parts were moved to the centre and was highlighted with wood-grain trim.
The model ranges of the Oldsmobile 88 Royale include the standard Eighty Eight, the Eighty Eight Royale, and the Eighty Eight Royale Brougham. The Holiday 88 coupe model was introduced in 1978 and used Strato bucket seats along with console and floor shifter, Super Stock wheels and two-tone paint schemes. In 1977 all the Delta 88 models were modified and advanced parts were use. New grilles and revised tailights with drivetrains were used for the Oldsmobile 88 models. The Oldsmobile 88 Royale Brougham series was introduced in 1979.
