The Mitsubishi GTO or 3000GT as the export models were called is a sports grand tourer built by Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors. This model was in the market between 1990 and 2001. With slight changes, in North America, it was sold by Chrysler as a Dodge Stealth captive import from 1991 to 1996.
The success of Mitsubishi HSX concept car at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show inspired Mitsubishi to develop the new GTO. This model was technically advanced sports coupe and was a strong competitor for the Mazda RX 7, Nissan 300ZX and Skyline GT R, and the Toyota Supra. The Mitsubishi GTO or 3000GT was Mitsubishis flagship for the decade. Since Ferrari and Pontiac used the name of GTO for their models, outside Japan the car was called Mitsubishi 3000GT. All the cars were built on the same production line at Mitsubishi's plant in Nagoya, Japan.
The last car for Japanese market was produced in 2000 and the last two cars were sold in 2001.

Features of 3000GT:

16 wheels in silver or chrome with 225/55 tires was used for the base and the SL model, VR4 used 18 chrome wheels with 245/40 tires.
The side air vents and rear bumpers were modified and the cap on the hood was not used.
The interior was modified air conditioning refrigerant was changed and used dual air bags.
The VR 4 included a six speed Getrag manual transmission and a better torque..
The 3000GT used pop up headlights and noticeable caps on the hood to accommodate the ECS controllers at the top of the strut turrets.
In 1999 the car received a partial exterior makeover, including new front bumper, headlamps, turn signals, sail panels, and a large wing for the 1999 VR 4 to distinguish it from previous models.

In later years many gadgets were not used as the price of the car increased.
