The Lexus GS 400 is a part of the GS series. The Lexus GS 400 is a mid size luxury sports sedan executive car. The GS 400 was manufactured and marketed by Lexus from 1993. The GS 400 was designed to fill the gap between the ES and LS series and to have a sports sedan. The GS 400 is a successful model that has been in three generations of production. The GS 400 was a more powerful and a better vehicle that the ES series. The 0-60 acceleration time for the GS 400 was the least and lead Lexus to claim that the GS was the world's fastest production sedan.


The GS 400 that was sold in parts of America used the UZ series V8 engine that produced 300 hp (224 kW) and 310 ftlbf (420 Nm) of torque. The 0-60 acceleration time for the GS 400 was 5.4 seconds for the 3693 pound (1675 kg) sedan. The Lexus GS 400 used the 5 speed automatic transmission with steering wheel shift buttons. Lexus began production in the JZS161 body style on August 4, 1997 and was officially launched in 1998. The success of the GS sedan prompted Lexus to keep the vehicle in its line-up for more than eight years.
