1984 and 1985 US and Canadian models were badged 4000S,
1986 and 1987 US models were badged 4000CS.

Engine and transmission

The 4000 quattro used a 5 cylinder, CIS E fuel injected 2.22 litre inline petrol engine, with an alloy head, and belt driven single overhead camshaft (SOHC).
The 4000S/CS used only the close-ratio 5 speed manual transmission. An automatic transmission was not available.

Styling and features

The exterior of the 4000 quattro was designed like a luxury sedan. Stainless steel inserts were there on the door handles to suit the body moulding.

The interior of the 4000 was designed like a sport model with red instrumental lighting and sporty steering column... Although the interior had a sporty design the seats were plush and comfortable.

The 4000 quattro also had additional fancy features like power side mirrors with defoggers, cruise control with resume function, air conditioning, power windows, the word quattro written on the rear windshield in defroster wire
