The Audi 200 is a mid sized automobile from Audi, a part of Volkswagen Group. This model, made between 1968 and 1994 was known for crisper styling and an unusual five cylinder engine. The initial model had a 100 bhp (74 kW) engine offering 6 cylinder power and 4 cylinder economy, and later was upgraded to 136 bhp (100 kW).
With several versions of the 2.2l turbo 5 cylinder available the Audi 200 continued as the upmarket variant in different markets over its life ranging in power outputs from 121 kW (165 bhp) MC engine, through the 136 kW (180 bhp) and 147 kW (200 bhp) versions to the final 162 kW (220 bhp) 20 valve 3B engine available from 1990. The 200 20V model was different from the rest as it had a flared front and rounded rear wheel arches. The 5000 model has a bad reputation in the US and led to the decrese in the sales. Even after attempts to change the style they were not able to get back the reputation and sales that was lost.

The Audi 200 was fitted with higher spec mechanics and had a different internal and external styling compared to the 100. Type 43 Audi 200's were imported into the UK between 1980 and 1982. There were two basic models the 5T (Turbo, forerunner to the UR Quattro) and the 5E (Injection). The Audi 200 was manufactured to compete with models like Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar
