The Honda Fit is a five-door hatchback, subcompact car, manufactured by the Honda Motor Company of Japan. The Honda Fit was introduced by Honda in June 2001. The Honda Fit used the Honda's Global Small Car platform. The City/Fit Aria, Airwave, Mobilio, and the Mobilio Spike used the same Honda's Global Small Car platform. The Fit is produced in 5 factories in different parts of the world. Suzuka (Japan), Sumar (Brazil), Guangzhou (China), Ayutthaya (Thailand), and Karawang (Indonesia). Models produced in Japan are for Honda's home market, exported to Europe, some Asian markets, as well as parts of Canada and the United States.

The Honda Fit used the 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 litre i-DSI engine, or a 1.5 liter VTEC engine. All the engines that were used were based on Hondas L-series engine family. The 8-valve i-DSI (intelligent dual and sequential) engines used two spark plugs per cylinder, allowing gasoline to burn more completely therefore, fuel consumption and emissions are reduced while maximum torque at mid-range rpm is maintained. The 1.5 Litre VTEC engine that was used had 16-valve configuration that was very powerful and advanced.
