The Ford Contour SVT is a compact 4-door sedan manufactured and marketed by Ford Motor Company in North America. The Ford Contour SVT was first introduced in 1995 and was in the market till 2000. The Ford Contour SVT used the Ford's CDW27 platform. In 2000, when the production of the Contour SVT was stopped, there was no replacement in parts of USA and Canada however in Mexico the locally manufactured variant of the European Ford Mondeo was used to replace the Contour SVT.
In 1998 the Contour SVR was introduced as a separate model from Ford in many parts. The base model was modified and used many advanced features for the facelift. The SVR version of the Contour used specially tuned and modified version of the 2.5 Litre V6 that produced 195 hp (145 kW) (1998 MY) / 200 hp (149 kW) and used the 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The Contour was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1995, 1996 and 1997.
