The Chevrolet Equinox is a mid-size crossover SUV from Chevrolet part of GM. The Chevrolet Equinox used the GM's Theta unibody platform. The Equinox was introduced by Chevrolet in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The Equinox was manufactured at CAMI Automotive GM/Suzuki joint venture plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada. The Equinox is the first crossover SUV from Chevrolet, marketed by GM as a compact SUV
The Chevrolet Equinox used the front wheel drive as the standard and all wheel drive was available as optional. Chevrolet Equinox was modified and used many advanced parts. In 2008, the Chevrolet Equinox Sport version was introduced that used the 3.6 litre DOHC V6 engine. The larger and more powerful engine helped the Equinox to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in under seven seconds and increases horsepower over 40%. The second generation of the Equinox is to be introduced in 2010.
