The first Corvette was designed by Harley Earl and named by Myron Scott after the fast ship of the same name. Chevrolet Corvette was America's first two-seat car. Corvette was named after a small, manoeuvrable fighting frigate. Corvette was used as the unchallenged premium domestic sports car for almost a decade.
